Choose Joy. and an Inspirational Rite of Passage.

So I've been in a writing funk and real life funk. I need to snap out of it.  It's so nice to have friends to share, chat and be there for you during these times.  Even in the blogging world, its the perfect place to express, share and become inspired.  I'm just at a crossroads right now, and am deciding where I am going and path my future will hold these next few months.  I just don't want to get lost or take the wrong path.  Sometimes it's easy to get discouraged, finding the perfect job, the perfect place, the perfect life and I am guilty of comparing myself to others. I know, I know, I knowwwww that my journey is about me and you aren't supposed to compare, but it's easy to sometimes, but a wonderful friend shared this video and it was a lovely reminder to Choose Joy in life. She also shared this video, which brought me to tears.  If you have not ready Lil Blue Boo, please see her blog, it is wonderful written and inspiring.

last 2 weeks.

I met up with friends at Nick Ryan's. a newer restaurant here in Lexington, that is amazing! if you go, get the filet. the marinade is amazing {better than Malones!}.

my roommate (now old roomie!) got married and went to Spain!!

I went to a site review in Scottsdale, Arizona, beautiful! But I later got stuck in a Haboob later on. Yes, a haboob.  Google it.

was a date at a wedding...new friends and old below.

and danced. a lot!!! my date on the right.

and that is about it.  My beautiful friend Alexandra is getting married this weekend and I am so excited to see her marry an amazing man! All these weddings has me thinking alot about things.....and universe and destiny, I have a little message for you.

that is all.

Insert Face Plant.

I always had the wrong perception about yoga.  While it IS about breathing exercises, discipline, focus, and calming the mind and body.  It is also a very very intense workout and is meant for building strength.  At least in my hot yoga class it is.  I've been to those classes...about becoming one with the earth - and they are NOT for me.  I get it.  I think meditation is important and interesting, but I need that in conjunction with something ELSE. something more challenging for my body.

I made my return to my hot speedball power yoga class last night.  The entire class I seriously kept wondering..."is it time for lying like a corpse yet?" Familiar? No? See here.  The instructor likes to switch it up from time to time, and tonight was definitely more intense than any normal class.  I've never really been that great at holding my Crow pose for that long, but I've done it once!!

{not as easy as it looks!!}

So last night. I had it perfect, I was holding my Crow pose and my instructor, even said "Great Job, Chelsea!" Yahhhhhhh insert cheering crowd in my head.

And then I immediately plummeted.  Of course I plummeted the direction I was looking, which was face down. Luckily, my teeth are in tact. And I didn't break my nose, but it definitely has felt better.

I love this class and am hesitant to give away where its at, sometimes it gets full.  Last night there were about 6 people and I like those classes best.

Some for WARNINGS about hot yoga {if you haven't been}.  Be sure you are fully hydrated. This is very important! Also, make sure you bring your own towel, yoga mat and LARGE water.  They provide yoga mats usually {but you sweat ALOT!} Trust me, you do NOT want to use a community yoga mat for hot yoga! And last, if you do not like hot places or do not like to work up a sweat, you will probably not like hot yoga. Also, in some instances, I've seen people get sick in my class. Apparently, it is common for people to throw up their first time.

With that said, I LOVE this class! I feel very tone and can totally see a difference in my arms and tummy and legs after only a few sessions.

I think I'll have a blog sale...Stay Tuned...

I think I'll have a blog sale. . .

If I have time tonight, I am going to take photos of several dresses, either never worn or once worn that I need to part with: their origin ranges from small boutiques in Chicago to Ann Taylor Loft to J.Crew... can't promise I will have a lot, but they will be some favorites.
 Including this French Connection dress..

Love & Friendship.

My work week of travel started with a small challenge. This lil guy.

I had to fit 5 days in this thing! 5 days. I'm a self-admitted worse kind of high maintenance {Harry, When Harry Met Sally}, the high maintenance that thinks they're low maintenance. Part of my struggle is I carry work materials and AV - necessities only rule is well...necessary. In an effort to prove to myself that I can be low maintenance, I thought this was a decent challenge. And look, to my surprise.  Tuesday night - I successfully completed my challenge. I almost pulled a Confessions of a Shopaholic move and shipped some things to my hotel. But nope, I did it. Ta-da

I decided to spend the weekend in Texas with one of my best friends, Emily, after I finished up my work events!

We brunched at Breadwinner's Friday morning and this place was the perfect brunch spot and had amazing food!  {the mimosas weren't so bad either}

She lives downtown, so later that night all of her friends joined us in grilling out! The conversation was great and I had such a lovely time. I love it when you seem to enjoy all of your friends new friends in their new cities!

This was our spot and it was seriously a perfect night! Good weather, good company, good food and good margaritAS!

Saturday day can be summed up with these...it was a beautiful last day and last night. And I really fell in love with Dallas.

I also finished Something Blue on my way home.  I enjoyed this quick read just as much as I enjoyed Something Borrowed.  And this last quote kinda stuck with me. It is very simple, and doesn't seem that profound - but after reading these 2 books and an intertwinement of my own life experiences. It meant a lot to me.

Love and Friendship. They are what make us who we are, and what can change us, if we let them.

I will be out of townsies again this week in California! If anyone is interested in guest blogging or has any ideas for a guest post, please let me know!

Hope you enjoyed your weekend! Xx,

Mama Said There'd Be Days Like This. . .

my car broke down.  in the drive thru line at long john silvers. it was hilarious. and mortifying.  i just put a brand new battery in lil betty the second earlier this year. and she's good on oil until march and was full of gas too! i'm car shopping next weekend. which is halting a chicago trip i had been planning and thus preventing me from seeing million dollar quartet. i was so excited.

i've had a lot of car trouble these past 2 years between betty and betty the second.  i need betty III to be more reliable.  maybe she needs a new, luckier name too.

i'm in the market for a pre-owned SUV. and if yall have any recommendations, please do tell me. LUCKILY, i am borrowing my roomie's stephie's car for the next couple days until betty the second is outta the car hospital.

tonight reminded me and made me realize HOW kind people are.  the customers and the people working were all about helping me to jump it, tow it, or move it out of the way.  And it reminded me of a topic of conversation and the title of my blog.  Meant to be Happy.  I believe that people are truly meant to be happy throughout life {duh!} but i also believe that people are innately good at heart.  sometimes, things happen and i question that, but tonight reminded me of this.  complete strangers wanted to help me with my car situation for no reason at all.

i'm also glad betty the second broke down on me. i take that back. i'm not glad, but i'm proud of myself.  i used to get SO stressed out when things like this happened to me.  and tonight.  i just laughed. oh life, i am finally learning how to handle you! i might feel differently when i get betty II's hospital bill.

i found these life instructions a while back and love them. i look at it from time to time to remind of what's important. and how to compose myself.
